Tethered or untethered: which charger cable suits you?
A fixed cable is convenient. A socket is flexible. Here's how to choose.

A tethered charger has the cable fixed to the unit. You just unhook it and plug in. An untethered charger has a socket, and you use your own cable.
Choose tethered if
- You have one car, or all your cars use Type 2
- You want the quickest plug-in every evening
- You don't mind the cable on show
Choose untethered if
- You change cars often or have visitors with EVs
- You want the tidiest look on the wall
- You'd rather keep the cable in the boot
Both charge at the same speed. Our quote tool shows which type each charger is.
