Boiler stopped working? Check these five things first

Simple checks that sometimes save a call-out.

Boiler stopped working? Check these five things first

Before you call, try these. They're safe to do and fix more breakdowns than you'd think.

  1. Check the pressure gauge. Most boilers want around 1 to 1.5 bar when cold.
  2. Check the thermostat and timer are calling for heat, and that the batteries are fine.
  3. In freezing weather, check the condensate pipe outside. Pour warm (not boiling) water over it to thaw it.
  4. Check other gas appliances work. If not, the issue may be your gas supply.
  5. Note any fault code on the display. It helps us bring the right part.
